how to restyle a kimono

I love kimonos. I think that they can add such a fun element to any outfit! Problem is, since they make such a statement it can be hard to re-wear them! I decided to challenge myself to restyle my Sea You Dream Kimono. I wore it in this post back in April. I decided I would try to make a completely different look, but still wear the same kimono, hat, and sandals.

My first look is definitely fancier, so this time I went for a more casual look. I decided I would pick up the blue tones in the kimono and paired it with navy shorts and a navy Kendra Scott necklace. My exact shorts are old, but here is a link to a similar pair that has all sizes in stock and is less than $20! Since I decided to go for colored shorts, I kept the top simple with just a plain white v-neck tee. I love how the look came together! It is perfect for a casual, weekend look. I think it would be great for running errands or going out for lunch.  What do you think? Do you like this look or the original better? Let me know in the comments down below!

Have a good weekend!

  40. They really are such bold statement pieces, so it's hard to wear them often. What a great idea to get creative with your styling so you can wear the kimono more often!

  44. I like both of them. If you want to try something out of the box, try adding a belt, tucking it into some paints or tying a knot with the bottom part of it.
