what to pack for a beach vacationFriday, February 05, 2016
Tyler and I have a beach vacation coming up, and I am so excited to head to warmer weather sometime in the near future! We have been to the beach together twice. First we went to Mexico with friends and then went to Punta Cana for our honeymoon. Both were such great times and I know this next trip will be another trip to remember!
Since we've taken a couple beach vacations, I've got a quick system down for packing that I thought I would share with you all. Fun fact, growing up I would always pack for a trip like a week in advance. We used to go to church camp for a week every summer and I would get so excited that I would pack the Sunday before we were supposed to leave haha! Although I am not that good of a planner anymore, I still do like to set items aside for a trip as I think of them. This is by no means comprehensive -- but below are some things that I always make sure to bring with me when I'm heading on a beach trip!
The most obvious thing you need for a beach trip is a swimsuit! I normally like to pack 2-3 suits depending on the number of days I am going on my trip. This year I picked up this one and I'm obsessed with the cut outs! For size reference, I needed a medium in both the top and bottom. (I also purchased this striped one.) To go with your swimsuit, you will also need a beach bag. The first time Tyler and I went on a beach vacation, I did not pack a beach bag. I just didn't think I would need one since we were staying at an all inclusive resort and our room would be steps away from the beach. (WRONG!) There were countless times I wished I had one to throw in my towel, my phone, a book, a water bottle, you name it. Now I don't forget it. You can shop my yellow beach bag here, but it also comes in pink, red, black, and blue!
When I go to the beach I like to pack two hats-- one baseball cap and then a sun hat. I like having the variety. It is great to have the beach/floppy hat for when I'm lounging in a chair reading a good book. (I have this one and love it!) However, I like the ball cap for if we are doing something more active like taking a walk down the beach, for example. (Of course I have to support my Royals!)
For accessories and shoes, I only pack a few things. After all, I'm at the beach so I'm only really getting dressed up for dinner. I always pack my Jack Rogers and throw in some fun colorful jewelry. I will always throw in a pair of flip flops to wear to the beach or pool and some wedges for when I need to be fancier.
For outfits, I like to mix and match. I will normally bring 2-3 bottoms with me for my beach trip. I will always pack denim shorts, patterned shorts, and then depending on the weather I may throw in white jeans. From there, I like to bring simple tops that can go with all the different bottoms. (This scalloped tee pictured above is one of my absolute favorites.) I will also throw in some dresses for dinners. Last weekend I picked up this dress and I can't wait to wear it out to dinner one night!
For toiletries, I will bring the basics. If you want to see how I pack my makeup bag for traveling, check out my recent YouTube video! I would appreciate it if you would click in and give it a thumbs up. It really helps with my search results. Also, I would love if you subscribed to me via YouTube if you have not already : ).
