Can I wear a romper to work? That is a question I have gone back and forth about for the past few months. I have recently decided that yes, you can wear a romper to the office. There are a couple things to keep in mind when choosing a romper for work, or deciding if one you have will be appropriate for the office. Hopefully this helps you if you have been on the fence!
1. Length: Admittedly, most of my rompers are on the shorter side. They are much more made for date nights, going out, etc. When choosing a romper to wear to work, I looked for one that was longer. (I know it might not look like it, but this white printed one I am wearing in these pictures is in fact a romper!) Most likely, the dresses you wear for work are a little longer than your "going out dresses" so keep that same mindset here. I do think it is harder to find rompers that are longer, however, so you may have to try on a couple before you find the right length.
2. Layers: A blazer pretty much adds an element of class to any look. Considering adding a blazer or cardigan over your romper to help dress it up a little bit.
3. Closed Toe Shoes: If I am trying to take a more casual dress into work, I will make sure I wear closed toe shoes or pumps instead of sandals. The romper would have a completely different vibe if I paired it with my favorite sandals!
Lastly, all dresses at Urban Outfitters are now 20% off! I was obsessed with Urban Outfitters in high school and recently that obsession has come back in full force haha. I picked up this one during the sale and can't wait to wear it for a casual weekend look. They have so many on trend dresses included in this sale (think lace up, off the shoulder, etc.). If you have a wedding coming up this year, I think this one would be a great option! Shop my favorites using the widget below.

ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely outfit! I actually have never worn a romper befor, but this summer I definitely want to try some this summer! If I had an office job I'd love to find a romper to wear and dress it up with a blazer!

That's a romper?? It looks like a dress! I love it :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute and I would honestly never have thought that you're wearing a romper!
ReplyDeleteI would totally wear this but maybe not to my particular office - I work with lawyers and lobbyists and we regularly meet with Congressmen and women and their staffers and the dress code is definitely a lot more formal than most offices. That said, this would be such a great outfit for casual Friday! The blazer definitely makes the look a lot more formal!

I haven't quite jumped on the romper train just yet, but I totally agree with you about adding a blazer and making sure it's long enough before wearing one to work!
ReplyDeleteDarcy, you nailed it with this romper, it totally looks work appropriate... I have heard finding the longer ones a bit harder. You found a really good one hear and pairing it with a blazer is awesome xox
ReplyDeleteI totally agree what you could rock this on the office! I think the length and blazer make it very work appropriate.

Ha, I didn't even realize this was a romper. It looks just like a dress. Great job making it look more office-appropriate with the blazer and wedges.

that's a romper? I can't see the division between the legs at all - probably why it works for work. Shorts really aren't appropriate at my office, so i think I'll stay away, but this is cute!

Length is definitely important since some rompers are super short. This outfit is perfect for work and I can't even tell that that's a romper. It looks like a dress.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful romper and you really pulled it off looking perfect for work. What a beauty! xx Adaleta Avdic
ReplyDeleteThat is a cute playsuit :) I think the longer length and the fact that it looks like a dress helps make it more office appropriate, as well as the blazer and wedges :)

I think it looks very cute and appropriate for work! I love how the blazer grounds it as more professional. And I recently went into UO for the very first time--can you believe I'd never been in before???

Love it! I agree - finding the right length for work is the tricky part. Your advice about closed toed shoes is smart. You just automatically thing "office appropriate" with closed toed shoes!

Finding a romper that is long enough is so hard. I love that you are able to wear this one to work.

The blazer really does dress up the romper. I'd also like to wear it to church.
ReplyDeleteThis totally looks like a dress with less of a worry. I always worry about accidentally flashing someone at work in a dress. This totally fits the bill!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute romper and with the blazer it looks totally professional! I love that it's flowy so that it looks more like a dress than a romper.

I love this outfit. So perfect for Spring/Summer. I would love to pair something like this together.
ReplyDeleteGirl....you fooled me! I thought that was a dress!! You look gorgeous!
