our honeymoon in punta cana

Hello, everyone! Today is our one month anniversary of being married (woohoo!). In honor of the one month mark, I thought I would share some pictures of our Honeymoon. We went to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and had an amazing time! We stayed at the Royalton Punta Cana Resort & Casino for five nights. The resort was beautiful and looked exactly like the pictures online.

We always book our trips based off of Trip Advisor. I love that it provides customer reviews and customer pictures. I would definitely recommend our resort. The grounds were beautiful, the rooms were nice, the beach was spotless, etc. The restaurants were all good -- our favorites were the Zen Hibachi Grill and Bella Cucina (Italian). One fun thing about our resort is that we had access to a sister resort called Memories, which gave us access to their pools, bars, and restaurants. Our resort also had great nightlife. It had a casino, disco bar, and live music every night!

We did not stay at an adults only resort -- so if that is something you are looking for I would suggest you book elsewhere. We were never bothered by kids. Memories had a water park, so most of the kids were always over there!  We did go to the water park for an hour so that we could try out the water slides, though! The weather was beautiful every day. It was pretty much 87 and sunny each day we were there!

Our first couple days there, we just spent our time at the resort. We split our time between the beach and the pool. Tyler and I are both content just relaxing on the beach. I read two books while there and they were both awesome reads. The first was "Insurgent" and the second was "Me Before You". Also, we never were out at the pool or beach until after 10 AM and we were always able to find chairs.

On our fourth day there, we went on an excursion called Ocean Adventures Bavaro Splash. It was a four and a half hour excursion and it was fantastic. We got to snorkel, drive speed boats, and snuba! The instructors were amazing and we felt safe the whole time we were there. Neither of us had ever head of snuba before. (I honestly thought it was scuba spelled wrong on the brochure haha!) If you are unfamiliar, it is a combination of snorkeling and scuba diving. You share a raft with four other people, plus an instructor, that holds two oxygen tanks. You are hooked up to the oxygen tank at all times. Then, you are able to go explore the bottom of the ocean! You cannot go as deep as you can if you are an actual certified scuba diver, however.

It was such a cool experience!  It was actually really hard to stay on the bottom, in my opinion. They strap a belt of weights around your stomach to help you sink, even! Once we got to the bottom, they had different chairs placed all around so that you pose for pictures under water! We felt safe the whole time because we had pretty individualized attention. One of the girls on our raft didn't want to do it, so it was just the instructor, another guy, and then Tyler and I. Once the excursion was over, they served drinks and had music on our boat ride back to shore!

We had such an amazing time on our trip. It was so hard to leave! We thought six days would be plenty, but we both wish we would have had an extra day or two to hang out. We did not have enough time to even try every restaurant at our resort! We both agreed that we would love to go back to Punta Cana one day. I highly recommend our resort and excursion to anyone looking there, so if you have any questions feel free to ask!
