Tyler and I rounded out a great year of travels with a trip to Nashville, TN at the end of December! We had the best time there. We had so much fun listening to live music, eating great food, visiting shopping districts, and just exploring a new city. If you are looking for an itinerary for a trip to Nashville, or a list of what to do on your trip to Nashville, read on for some ideas!
Day One - Thursday
Thursday was a travel day for us and we arrived in Nashville around 3:30 PM. We grabbed an Uber to head to our AirBNB. We did not have a rental car in Nashville and it was so easy to get around! We walked almost everywhere we went. The only times we really needed an Uber was to/from the airport and to get to/from Broadway at night.
We stayed in an AirBNB in the Belmont/Hillsboro neighborhood and it was such an amazing location! We were able to walk to the Gulch, 12 South, Music Row, Vanderbilt, and more. The Chiefs had a Thursday night football game, so Tyler found a "Kansas City Chiefs Fans of Nashville" Facebook group to find a place to watch the game. This group was all going to Double Dogs in Hillsboro so we walked over there to watch the game. The Chiefs ended up losing, but we still had fun watching the game with a bunch of other Chiefs fans! After the game ended we walked to Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream for a sweet treat. We shared a gooey butter cake and it was delish!
Day Two - Friday
Friday morning we walked over to the Gulch to see what Biscuit Love was all about and to have some brunch. (If you are like me and read hundreds of blogs for tips on what to do in a city before a trip then this place is likely in all of them haha.) Biscuit Love started as a food truck but became so popular that there are now three locations in Nashville! Expect to wait in a line outside before ordering. We waited probably 20-30 minutes before we got to order but the food came out super quick (less than 5 minutes after we ordered) so it really wasn't an awful wait. Get an order of bonuts to share (fried biscuits... they reminded us of funnel cake)!
After brunch we had to make a stop at Uncommon James. This jewelry store is owned by Kristin Cavallari and I was so excited to check it out. I picked up this pair of earrings while we were there. It was a cute store and I was excited to check it out!

After shopping, we went back to our AirBNB to relax for a bit and get ready for the night. We grabbed an Uber to head to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. If you are a country music fan, you must visit the museum while in Nashville. We spent a little over two hours learning about how country music started, reviewing platinum records, and checking out memorabilia from some of our favorite artists.
After the museum we went to ACME Feed and Seed for dinner and to start exploring Broadway. We went up to the second floor for sushi and it was really good! Everyone has always told me that ACME is packed, but it wasn't busy when we were there. (We were early -- around 5 PM.) After dinner we went into a couple different Honky Tonks on Broadway before heading to a Grand Ole Opry Show at The Ryman!
The Opry is at the Ryman during the winter months, and this was actually really convenient for us because it was right off of Broadway! Definitely buy your tickets in advance so that you can make sure you have a seat. Shows sell out early -- especially if someone "big" is playing. The two artists we knew ahead of time at our show were Chris Janson and Chris Young. It was so fun to see the show in person and to experience a little bit of history at the Ryman! This is a must do for your trip to Nashville, but book early so that you have a guaranteed seat. Even if you don't know anyone playing, you will still enjoy the show!
After the show we walked back to Broadway to continue going into the different Honky Tonks and listed to live music. It was such a fun night!
Day Three - Saturday
Saturday morning we walked over to Just Love Coffee for breakfast. This definitely felt like more of a local spot and not busy at all but we loved the breakfast burritos there! From there we walked to Centennial Park to check out the Parthenon. This is a full scale replica of the original Parthenon in Athens. There were a lot of people in the park hanging out, exercising, and visiting the Parthenon. We didn't pay to go inside, but it was cool to see it in person from the outside!
After hanging at the park for a bit, we crossed the street to check out Three Brothers Coffee. You've probably seen this place on Instagram before as they have a pretty famous mural outside the store. Get the honey latte -- you won't be disappointed!
From there we walked around Vanderbilt and back to our AirBNB. We did a ton of walking this day so our legs were pretty tired!
That night for dinner we went to Hattie B's Hot Chicken. This is another very famous spot in Nashville where you will have to wait in a line outside to order. We went at 5 PM and it took over 30 minutes to get inside to order. (Again the food comes out quick so it's not a horrible wait but definitely don't expect to get in and get out quick!) The food is delicious and absolutely worth the wait.

After dinner, we went back to Broadway to check out some more of the honky tonks. Our favorites from the trip were Kid Rock's Big Ass Honky Tonk and The Stage. We liked Kid Rock's bar because their bands were playing more pop or rock music so it was a nice change from the country everywhere else. The dance floor was packed there! The Stage was great for more of the traditional country music. They had a lot of room to sit/dance and actually had four different areas in the bar for live music and each had a different band playing. They have a rooftop too. It was awesome!
I recommend going into a honky tonk and grabbing a seat/drink. Stay for one drink and then head on to the next one! Tyler and I tried to do this -- but some bars we had so much fun at so we stayed longer. Even after two nights on Broadway we weren't able to stop in each one. They all are different so you'll want to check out as many as you can!
Day Four - Sunday
Sunday was dedicated to exploring the 12 South Neighborhood in Nashville. This was one of my favorite days! We went to Frothy Monkey for coffee and breakfast. The employees here were all so nice! We ended up sitting outside and just enjoying the good coffee/weather for awhile.

After breakfast we wandered through all of the shops in the area. There were so many cute boutiques to walk through! 12 South is also where you can find so many of the great murals for pictures. We took pictures by Draper James (the blue striped wall), the I Believe in Nashville Sign, and the Nashville Peace Project Mural. (My favorite was the peace project mural!)

For lunch this day we decided to try barbecue from Edley's Bar-B-Que and it was delish. After lunch we headed to Broadway to listen to live music and watch football. We figured if we wanted to spend the afternoon watching football games we should head to Broadway so that we could listen to live music during it! We spent the afternoon at Bailey's. The band was great and they had really good drink specials when we were there (either $2 or $3 drafts). Service was mediocre at best, but we still enjoyed the time we spent there.
After spending a few hours there we grabbed an Uber to head to the Gaylord Opryland Hotel to check out the Christmas lights. I had heard this was amazing to see as they have over 2 million Christmas lights on display. Unfortunately, Tyler and I were not really all that impressed and we left after less than an hour. Unless you were staying at the hotel, I wouldn't recommend making a trip out there. We ended the night TailGate Beer for pizza before going back to our AirBnB!
Day Five - Monday
Monday we went to The Pancake Pantry for breakfast! This is a very popular place so plan to wait in line before getting a table. We waited for about 20 minutes outside before we were sat. They have free coffee and water outside so it goes fast! :) Breakfast was delicious and it was definitely worth the 20 minute wait! The Pancake Pantry is in the Hillsboro neighborhood of Nashville, so after breakfast we walked through the different shops before heading to our AirBnB to pack up to go home.
We had some time to kill before going to the airport so we went to Tennessee Brew Works to try their beer and play games! They had a bunch of board games (Scrabble, Mancala, etc.) and darts available so we took advantage of that.
We had a great time in Nashville and cannot wait to go back one day! We normally don't like to return to places since there are so many places we want to see, but we both agreed we would go back to Nashville in a heartbeat!
