We love reading in our house! While I don't go too crazy with holiday or season-themed books, we do have a couple books we love for Halloween. I thought today I would round up our 6 favorite fall books for toddlers. These are good books to read to toddlers for Halloween.
1. Where do Diggers Trick-Or-Treat? - We actually own like 6 different versions of this book so that it is why it is number one in this list! In this book, all sorts of different vehicles are doing fall or halloween related activities. They have to finish their jobs at fall related work sites before they can go trick-or-treating or do something fun for fal! (For example, a road roller has to finish rolling out the road.) It is a fun book for any kid who likes vehicles! My sons also both like to find the mouse on each page.
2. Little Blue Truck's Halloween: A Lift-The-Flap Book - This is such a great book for teaching kids that there is a person underneath each costume. In this book, Little Blue Truck and his animal friends are going to a Halloween party. Lift the flap on each page to see which animal is wearing which costume. This is a favorite that we reach for each Halloween.
3. Room on the Broom - In this book, a witch and her cat are out riding on the broom. As the story progresses, the wind makes her hat, wand, etc. fall off. Animals find them for her, and in exchange they want a ride on a broom. This is great until there is too much weight on the broom and it snaps! What will they all do?!
4. Five Little Pumpkins - If you're familiar with the sweet Halloween nursery rhyme of 5 little pumpkins sitting on a gate, the first one said "oh my it's getting late!"... you'll like this book. Cute illustrations tell the 5 little pumpkins nursery rhyme.
5. Busy Little Squirrel - This book is one of our favorite fall books. In this book, squirrel is getting ready for winter. It talks all about the different things the squirrel must do in order to be ready for when it gets cold out!
6. The Leaf Thief - Another fall themed book about squirrels. In this one, the squirrel lives in a tree He is counting his leaves one day and notices one is missing. He goes on a hunt through the forest to find out who stole his leaf! A good lesson in how the leaves change and fall as seasons change.
