I have received some feedback lately that you all really like when I share multiple ways to wear one item. I am glad you all love that! I am all about getting the most out of my wardrobe so I am so happy you all enjoy that content. Back in June, I showed you all how I styled my chambray peplum top. In that post, I showed it with white denim. It is one of my favorite summer purchases so I wanted to feature it on the blog one more time. This time I made the top a little more fall appropriate by reaching for my black skinny jeans, peep toe heels, and a burgundy floppy hat. If you read Monday's post then you know that I think black jeans are a fall wardrobe essential! In that post, I also included booties. However, if I could add one other shoe that you need in your fall wardrobe it would be peep toe booties. These are the perfect transition shoe in between seasons! Their peep toe makes them feel a little more summery, but since they are booties they also feel like fall. You definitely need a pair! Mine are old, but these are really similar and on sale for less than $50.

*First of all, my apologies for the lack of posts last week! Blogger has been doing something weird for me lately where it is only publishing half the post. On Friday, when this post originally went live, it cut off at number 5. I could not figure it out then so I reverted it back to a draft. All 8 items should be showing now. If anybody else has had problems like this please leave a comment. I would love to try to figure out why this is happening.*
Like it or not, fall will be here soon. I know some people cannot wait for fall to arrive, but I personally will be soaking up every ounce of summer until the fall weather arrives. Once fall is here, though, I will be all for it! I truly love each season. Well, if winter could be shortened by like a month I would be totally fine with that ha. That being said, now is the perfect time to start building your fall wardrobe. Even though I want to spend my days at the pool, get some final use out of my favorite shorts, and enjoy the longer amounts of daylight, I am still getting very excited for fall fashion. Classic pieces that return each year are starting to fill the shelves at stores. In addition, there are some great trends for fall this year. I've rounded up a list of 8 pieces I think you need in your fall wardrobe. Four are trendy pieces for fall and four are classic pieces you'll wear again and again.
The best part, is that these pieces can all be mixed together to create different looks. Get a slip dress in plain black, and layer a camo top underneath. Put the suede vest over the turtleneck and pair it with the black jeans. Wear your striped flutter sleeve top with a skirt and booties now, and pair it with some jeans when it gets cooler. Wear the blanket scarf like a shawl and pair it with the slip dress and some studded heels for a fun night out look. Rock the black jeans with a camo top and suede vest for an edgier look. The options are endless! Keep reading to see why I love these pieces and to find more colors and styles for each piece.
1. The Slip Dress: Slip dresses have gradually been getting more and more popular. (This can be said for pretty much anything that resembles 90s fashion.) This is a great piece to buy now, because you can wear it now on it's own. As it gets colder, you can layer it. Wear a t-shirt underneath, add a leather jacket over top, put a turtleneck underneath, top it with a cozy cardigan. There are so many options! Worried about it looking like pajamas? Pick a bold pattern, a longer length, and avoid any lace.
3. Flutter Sleeve: Fun sleeves are having a major moment right now. Everything from over-sized bell sleeves to flutter sleeves can be found of various tops and dresses. (Remember this post with my flutter sleeve top?!) This small detailing is such a fun touch to an otherwise basic piece. This is a trend that can easily be worn to work, especially if the piece has structure like the top in the collage.
4. Something Suede: Suede was huge last year at this time. I am sure you remember seeing those suede button up mini skirts everywhere! This year, suede is back. However, now there are so many more options and styles to choose from! I'm currently debating between a suede vest and a suede jacket. I want to pick the one I'll wear the most. (I will probably be buying this during a Labor Day sale, when most stores offer 40% off!)
8. Scarves: No surprise here! Blanket scarves have been huge for going on two years now. (It all started with this plaid one.) Blanket scarves have now expanded to many different patterns and colors. I recently purchased the leopard print one and I can't wait to wear it. (For ideas on how I style my blanket scarf head here and here.) Not into the blanket scarf trend? Grab a smaller scarf (bandanna sized) and tie it around your neck (like in the suede vest picture). The smaller scarf is such a cute and on trend look at the moment!
What part of fall fashion are you most looking forward to!? Let me know in the comments!

I don't know about you, but I get so much reading done during the summer. I love sitting outside, enjoying the weather, and reading a book! I have read quite a few good books this summer, and today I thought I would share 5 of my favorites with you all. Below are my recommendations for your fall reading list. (Or if you're motivated, your summer reading list!) Have you read any of these?
1. The Girl on the Train: The Girl on the Train is a thriller novel that is told from the point of view of three different woman. The main character, Rachel, takes the train each day past her ex-husband's house while she pretends to go to work. (Her flatmate, doesn't know she has lost her job so she continues to go every day.) During this time, she starts watching another couple a few houses down, making up a perfect life for them in the process. One day, the girl from that perfect couple goes missing. Rachel gets involved in searching for the missing girl. The book gives us the point of view of Rachel, Anna (the current wife of Rachel's ex), and Megan (the girl who goes missing). It is such a good book that always keeps you on your toes as you learn more. It is going to be a movie here shortly. Trust me, you need to read it before it hits theaters.
2. What Alice Forgot: Alice Love suffers an accident while working out that makes her forget the past 10 years of her life. When she wakes up from the accident she thinks she is 29, married, and about to have her first child. In reality, she is 39, has three kids, and is in the process of getting divorced. Throughout the book. Alice is trying to piece her life back together, save her marriage, and figure out what went wrong over the past 10 years. It makes you think about what you would regret or be happy about if you lost 10 years of your life. What would you fight for? I read this in like 3 days! If you read this book and liked it, I would recommend If I Could Turn Back Time by Beth Harbison. It follows a somewhat similar story line and I loved it!
3. Girl Online: Girl Online is by Youtuber Zoe Sugg. As a big fan of blogs and Youtubers, I really wanted to read a novel by someone I watch online! This book is considered Young Adult, so it may have a younger target audience, but I still loved it. This book is all about one girl, Penny, who blogs anonymously about her life. She experiences humiliation at school one day, and then gets the opportunity to go to New York with her parents over Christmas. While there, she meets a guy, named Noah. She shares all about her trip, and Noah, on her blog. The book follows Penny's trip and her relationship with Noah. However, once she returns home, she learns that Noah has a secret that could threaten her blog's anonymity and her friendships back home. This is a really quick read, but I enjoyed it! I'm adding the sequel to my fall reading list.
4. Balancing in Heels: If you enjoyed Laguna Beach or The Hills, then you absolutely must read this book. It is a behind the scenes look at Kristin Cavallari's life. She talks about her time on reality TV and her current life with her husband and children. It goes in depth about what she eats, how she works out, her style, and more. It even is filled with her favorite recipes! I was always a fan of Lauren Conrad, but this book has also made me a huge fan of Kristin's as well.
5. Silver Bay: Silver Bay is by JoJo Moyes, who wrote Me Before You. (I still need to see that movie!) This book actually came out in 2006, but I just finished it. Mike Dormer is a top financial performer at a company in London. He heads out on assignment to a town in Australia, called Silver Bay, to scope out a site for a new hotel. Silver Bay is a small town, where the residents protect and love the whales and dolphins that live in the surrounding water. While there, Mike forms a strong relationship with some of the residents, particularly one woman, Liza. Liza lives in Silver Bay with her daughter and aunt. As the hotel progresses, Mike starts wondering if the hotel is really a great idea when he realizes the consequences it will have on the wildlife and the residents. Liza has a secret that will be revealed if the development continues. Mike is torn between his job and protecting the animals and Liza. This book does a great job of combining suspense and romance. Out of all of these books, this one took the longest to get into. It starts slow, but if you give it a few chapters, I think you won't be able to put it down.

Is anyone else just so excited that the Olympics start tonight!? I swear I have been counting down the days to this since June haha! What event are you most excited for? For me, it definitely is women's gymnastics! I can't wait to watch Simone Biles tear it up. I also LOVE Laurie Hernandez. I'm hoping she snags a spot in the individual all around finals! Fun fact, when I was growing up my studio sent a group of us down to Bela Karolyi's ranch in Texas. We spent a week there training and I even got some one on one time with Bela himself! Such a cool experience. I have a picture of the two of us together, I wish I could find it and include it in this post haha.
In honor of the Olympics starting tonight with the opening ceremonies, I thought I would put together a red, white, and blue outfit. I recently received this navy boyfriend cardigan. I love that it has a touch of sparkle in it. (It also comes in gold, which is fitting for an Olympics inspired post :)) I am personally a huge fan of boyfriend cardigans. They give off a more relaxed vibe than a shorter cut cardigan does. Pairing it with red and white was only natural in this look. I added my favorite purse, which I have styled recently here. Online, this cardigan is paired with a striped top and I think it looks cute. I can also picture it with white jeans and chambray top as we transition more into cooler weather. For size reference, I am wearing a small in the cardigan. (P.S. This red, white, and blue outfit would be a cute outfit idea for Labor Day, as well!)
Hope you all have a great weekend!

On Monday, I shared how to style striped dress pants for work. In that post, I kept the look a little more casual. I paired the pants with a chambray top and block heeled sandals. Would the look be appropriate for a more formal occasion? Probably not. That's why today I wanted to share how to style these pants for a day when you need to be just a tad more professional. It can be hard to look stylish, yet professional, at work sometimes. This is especially true if you have a very strict dress code! While I have a relaxed dress code at work, I still enjoy dressing up and looking put together for a day at the office.
In this look, the striped pants are a stand out piece. I could have easily chosen a pair of plain black dress pants (a wardrobe essential, nonetheless) but I wanted to showcase a little more of my personality in this look. Since the pants make such a statement, I kept the top simple with a white blouse. The necklace and bag give me a little more room to add personality to this look. Which look is your favorite between the two? I really like the casual look, as I think it's a little more unexpected. I am all about finding multiple ways to wear pieces in my wardrobe, and I feel like there are so many possibilities with these pants. A classic work shoe is a nude pump, and these ones are included in the #Nsale for only $70!
Also, if you guys have ever had your eyes on the J.Crew Factory Herringbone Vest, it's back in stock and on sale! This sells out every year so don't hesitate to buy it if you like. (Curious for how to style it? Check out 10 ways I've styled it here.)

Let's be honest for a second. Dressing for the corporate environment can sometimes be a little boring. It can be hard to find ways to incorporate your personality into your work wardrobe and still look professional. I like to incorporate my personality into my work wardrobe through patterns, colors, and accessories. Another great way to add some flair to your work look is through a great bag. I carry this bag to work most of the time, but switching out your work bag is another great way to spice things up. If you are getting a fun colored bag, just make sure you choose one that has a good structure. (I think this gray mixed media one is so cute!!)I am lucky to work somewhere with a jeans casual dress code, but there are events and meetings that require something more professional. I would never wear jeans to a meeting with a client! Whenever those occasions arise, I tend to reach for the classic combination of a pair of dress pants and a nice blouse.
However, I like to get more use out of my clothing pieces than for just one occasion, so today I thought I would share a new way to style dress pants. These ones from Banana Republic are so fun because they are striped dress pants! They make quite a statement. Since they are patterned and a fun color palette, I feel they are a great way to showcase my personality. However their fit and style keep them grounded as a nice pair of dress pants. I love how this chambray top looks paired with them, I feel like the chambray top dresses them down quite a bit. To keep the look even more relaxed, I wore my favorite block heeled sandals. Would this be appropriate for a business professional environment? No. However, this a perfect for a casual, yet polished, office look. Come back on Wednesday to see another way to style these pants!
Lastly, I have a great group of girl friends -- many of whom are teachers. In fact, out of my group of college friends I am the only girl who isn't a teacher! I think that everyone should be friends with a teacher because it will truly change your perspective about so many things related to the profession. One of them right now is trying to raise money for her classroom to purchase alternative seating. It is a high poverty school, so any donation would be very appreciated! Here is the link if you want to check it out for yourself.
