We arrived in Chicago early on Saturday morning so we had the whole day ahead of us. First stop was Navy Pier. It was fun to see but not a whole for us to do there. There was quite a bit of construction going on while we there. It's a Chicago Landmark so it is definitely worth the visit, though! We had nice weather, so the walk was nice and it was neat to see. After, we went to The Signature Lounge which is a bar 96 floors up in the Hancock Building. It has 360 degree views of Chicago. We were able to get a seat right by the window. We ended up staying for a couple hours just talking and enjoying the view. The pomegranate mojito is delicious and I highly recommend it if you stop there!
That evening, we went out to dinner at Hub 51. We ordered a couple different things, but we loved the sushi! After dinner we went out to a couple bars. We were able to see one of my good friends from high school, Abbey, while we were in town! She took us to a great bar called Bub City. It is a country bar so the atmosphere is really fun! Order the Back Porch Tea to drink when you go there : ).
Sunday was more exploring. We went to Millennium Park and shopped on the mile! That evening we went out to dinner at Big Bowl. Tyler and I both agree this is the best meal we ate while in Chicago! We ordered stir fry for dinner and cheesecake for dessert.... so yummy! Afterwards we went to see Divergent. Tyler and I almost never go to movies so this was very out of the ordinary for us! (Now that I have seen the movie I can finally read the second book, haha.)
We had a late afternoon flight back to Kansas City on Monday. We slept in, shopped some more, and went out to lunch! We had such a fun weekend just exploring a new city together.

I recommend going to the Second City in Chicago, it's a sketch comedy and improv theater (where people like TIna Fey got their start). It's so much fun!

Such a fun weekend! I LOVE Bub City - next time you have to eat there too, so good! - and Big Bowl might honestly be my favorite restaurant ever. Every time we have new visitors I take them to Big Bowl :) My vote is for the next weekend trip to be in Charleston! That is where my husband and I are spending our first anniversary in July, we've never been either!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you and Tyler had such a great time there, amazing place! =)
