open plaid shirt

I have always loved how an open plaid shirt looks, but never loved how it looked on me. I later realized it was because I was trying to wear the look with too baggy of a top. If you want to try to achieve the same look, make sure you are using a fitted top for it to keep from looking sloppy. I once read a tip that said to consider buying a button down in one size smaller than you need. If you get one that fits you everywhere, but cannot be buttoned up comfortably, it will look perfect if you leave it open! Although I can wear this one both ways (styled here), I think it is a great tip! I really want to get a chambray shirt one size down, because both of mine are too baggy to wear open as is.

Have a great day!

  31. Oh I love that suggestion of sizing down to wear the shirt open! It seems obvious when you think about it but I never though of it myself. The way you have it styled here looks perfect! Love the cute springy/summery colors of that plaid shirt with the classic tee & shorts.

  39. I literally have like 20 tank tops that need plaid shirts and open shirts like this. This is such a cute concept because if you get too hot, you can take the plaid or open shirt off and just be in the tank top. Super cute shirt on you & I love all of that color :) xx
