Hello, everyone! I apologize for my absence over here in blog land over last week. (I'll get more into that below.) I didn't make it very far into Fall before breaking out my herringbone vest. I couldn't get enough of it last season, and I imagine I will wear it just as much this year! (Here is one of my favorite looks from last year.) I noticed a lot of the comments online for this vest seem to be disappointed that it is a puffer material... and not cotton like they expected. I am not sure if it ever was actually cotton in the past, but my vest is puffer material! (I checked with two friends who also have this vest and theirs are also puffer.) Just wanted you all to be aware because there seems to be some confusion!

So, this post is about to get way longer than my normal posts. Last week, I did not post once. I don't think that has ever happened here before! I pretty much never post on holidays, so I was planning on taking Monday off. The rest of the week just kind of followed. Lately, I have had conflicting opinions about blogging. I absolutely love my blog and the people who I have met through it. It is a creative outlet, and a wonderful hobby for me. However, in the past few weeks it has started to feel more like work. Rather than sitting down in the evening saying, "I can't wait to write my post!" I was thinking "I have to write this post."

I have found myself wanting a hobby that doesn't involve staring at a screen. In this post, you may have noticed I have been doing a lot of reading lately. Last weekend, Tyler and I also brought my keyboard back to Kansas City so I could practice playing the piano again. I love my blog, but I don't want it to be all of me. I am glad I took a break last week, because it kind of "rekindled the flame". I took a huge step back last week and hardly read blogs, hardly spent any time on Instagram, etc. It was necessary and invigorating. By Thursday, I completely missed the blogging world.

All of that being said, I will now only be posting on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. You can expect consistent content on those days. I may do extra things on Tuesdays, like share my latest YouTube video or a sale guide, but those will be sporadic posts. (At least for now... this could all change in six months ahah!) I want to keep blogging fun for me, and I also want to be able to dedicate time to other hobbies in the evenings.

I appreciate all of my readers so much. Your comments and involvement make blogging so. much. fun. I genuinely appreciate your involvement on my little space on the internet. Thank you all for your continued support!

  3. I think blogging can be difficult during the summer months especially because, personally I'm a lot busier and don't always have the time I'd like to dedicate to blogging. Sometimes it's important to put the computer down and take a break, blogging can wait but life will not.

I hope you had a nice relaxing week; I agree with you on the fact that sometimes it can feel more like work because you know that a post 'has' to go out on a certain day. But just do you! Don't worry about other people too much, and keep it fun!

Thanks for sharing, I love that vest :)

  21. I was the same way. My blog is no where near as big as yours, but it's also a creative outlet like you said. I get to share my style with others, but at times it was getting to be too much. So since I returned to the blogging world after a 6 month hiatus I did the same thing and decided to only post 3 days a week. It's made it so much more enjoyable and easier. Especially for those days I just don't want to look pretty! lol And by the way I SO need to get one of these vests this season!

  22. 1) I love that vest!! Wear it everyday. Or at least once a week! 2) I so can identify with the inner blogger battle. I want it to be fun not work. And i think it's always good to step away. I did for like two years! That may be a bit extreme but it was because I had a case of burn out. This go round, I'm not going to be so rigid on my bloggy schedule!

  31. I think the fall is such a busy season. I have had two blog friends tell me they've quit blogging since the beginning of September. It is such a HUGE commitment and takes SO much time. I have thought about stepping back on the number of posts I do, too... but, can't seem to figure out how I will fit it all in still. I think taking up some other hobbies that don't involve staring at a screen sound nice! Enjoy that time! I can't wait to get my herringbone vest out again!!!

  51. First of all, I totally love this look--the vest makes it feel like fall but the bare legs are perfect for the nice weather now. Regarding your changed schedule and break, I totally know how you feel. I took a similar break myself and decided to switch from posting 5 days a week to 3. I think it's easy to let blogging take over your life (for me at least) and I really didn't want it to start to feel like a chore. Cutting back a little has helped me out a lot, I hope it does the same for you!

  52. Blogging breaks are definitely needed every now and again...and often, they aren't planned. I took quite a bit of time off this summer, and I think it helped me a lot. It made me realize that I missed it, so that was a good sign.

I honestly can't fathom how people manage to post 5 days a week. It takes so much time and effort, let alone inspiration to get that many posts out there. I'm sure you'll find this new schedule more manageable! <3

I just felt overwhelmed and thought, I need a break, I am so busy with exercising that I didn't want the rest of my life to be about blogging. There was a time in the spring when I had seriously gotten way too stressed about it and realized really quickly the blog was driving me instead of me driving the blog. It has been a lot easier to step back and take a break when I need it now. You are a newlywed too and that needs to be top on your list!
