Mixing Paisley and Stripes

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

I bought this skirt from the J Crew Factory store this summer. At first glace, I figured I would wear it with a plain white blouse or plain orange blouse. The beauty of blogging, however, is that it forces you to step outside of your comfort zone when getting dressed. Although I do love how this skirt looks with a crisp white button down and a statement necklace, I was feeling a little more "fun" when I got dressed today.

So, I decided to do some pattern mixing. The stripes and paisley work here because they share a common color pallet. They also work because the skirt is a smaller print while the sweater is a larger print. (By the way this is the most perfect light-weight sweater ever created by Express.) I really love how the two look together. It is definitely a visually appealing outfit! I think this skirt would also look good good paired with some gingham :)

  11. Hi Darcy,
First of all, thank you so so much for your great words of advice on my latest post (satchel bag from eBay). I never thought someone would give me so many useful tips. So thanks a lot!
Then I also wanted to let you know that I really love this outfit. I love mixing patterns together (even though it will result in weird looks from my sister). I love pockets in a skirt too! They're the best.
