summer work outfit formula

||J.Crew Factory purple skirt (old, love this) | similar printed sleeveless blouse | Tory Burch York Buckle Tote | Kendra Scott Rayne Tassel Necklace | Kate Spade Metro Round Leather Watch | Ray-Ban Original Aviators | Tory Burch Reva Ballerina Flats | Old Navy cardigan||

When it gets warm out, I am very appreciative that we can wear skirts and dresses to work! I feel so bad for the guys who are wearing jeans and a button down when it is 90 degrees outside! When it gets hot out, I love to pair skirts with a tank top and cardigan or blazer. (hello it is like 40 degrees inside an office building, brrr!) When wearing skirts or more casual dresses, I opt for closed toed shoes. I feel like sandals can make your outfit seem too casual for an office building.

You know what your dress code is like where you work, so this may or may not work for you.  If you like the look, but need a longer skirt, check out this circle skirt or this pencil skirt. Almost all of my friends are teachers so I know this would never work for them because they are always crouching by desks or sitting on the floor! However, this works for where I work because I am sitting in a cubicle all day. I base my skirt length off of the "finger test" from high school... where the bottom of your skirt hem has to go past your fingertips. (Anyone else remember that rule, haha!?)

Have a good weekend!

  43. Darcy I like your cute pencil skirt... I too agree wearing a cute closed toe shoe is better when working as it looks more professional... We have air conditioning where I work, so I always wear a sweater or blazer over my outfit xox
