Let's be honest for a second. Dressing for the corporate environment can sometimes be a little boring. It can be hard to find ways to incorporate your personality into your work wardrobe and still look professional. I like to incorporate my personality into my work wardrobe through patterns, colors, and accessories. Another great way to add some flair to your work look is through a great bag. I carry this bag to work most of the time, but switching out your work bag is another great way to spice things up. If you are getting a fun colored bag, just make sure you choose one that has a good structure. (I think this gray mixed media one is so cute!!)I am lucky to work somewhere with a jeans casual dress code, but there are events and meetings that require something more professional. I would never wear jeans to a meeting with a client! Whenever those occasions arise, I tend to reach for the classic combination of a pair of dress pants and a nice blouse.
However, I like to get more use out of my clothing pieces than for just one occasion, so today I thought I would share a new way to style dress pants. These ones from Banana Republic are so fun because they are striped dress pants! They make quite a statement. Since they are patterned and a fun color palette, I feel they are a great way to showcase my personality. However their fit and style keep them grounded as a nice pair of dress pants. I love how this chambray top looks paired with them, I feel like the chambray top dresses them down quite a bit. To keep the look even more relaxed, I wore my favorite block heeled sandals. Would this be appropriate for a business professional environment? No. However, this a perfect for a casual, yet polished, office look. Come back on Wednesday to see another way to style these pants!
Lastly, I have a great group of girl friends -- many of whom are teachers. In fact, out of my group of college friends I am the only girl who isn't a teacher! I think that everyone should be friends with a teacher because it will truly change your perspective about so many things related to the profession. One of them right now is trying to raise money for her classroom to purchase alternative seating. It is a high poverty school, so any donation would be very appreciated! Here is the link if you want to check it out for yourself.
