I love rounding up gift guides on my blog. I think it is so fun to share products, toys, books, etc. that we love in our house! If you are looking for other gift ideas for a three year old check out this blog post I did with some of my favorite gift ideas for a three year old.
Today I thought I would switch up my gift guide strategy a little bit. Instead of a curated list that is a little more generalized to an age I thought it would be fun to share exactly what I am buying my (almost) three year old son for Christmas this year. There are a few things in this list that I have shared with family members as a gift idea so not everything is coming from us. If you are looking for gift ideas for a three year old boy - you're in the right place!
1. Magna-tiles road tiles - I have two little boys (currently ages 4.5 and 2.5) and they both LOVE magna-tiles. It can be really hard to find gifts for my youngest son since they are so close in age and have very similar interests. However, one thing I love to do is buy things for him that I know BOTH kiddos will like. That way, it's not only older brother with the "cool toys" that they both want to play with. One thing he is getting this year is two boxes of the magna-tiles road tiles. My kids love to make garages for all of their hot-wheel cars out of magna-tiles. I think they would think its fun to also build a road for the cars to drive on! The boxes don't come with a lot of pieces so that is why we are getting two. Here is an off-brand set as well that comes with a few more pieces. If you don't have any magna-tiles at all yet, this is the kit we gifted to our youngest last year!
2. Count Your Chickens - We love games in our house. (Check out this blog post where I shared some of my favorite games for a three year old.) I've had Count Your Chickens on my "to buy" list for years. This is a cooperative play game where you work together to help mother hen get all her chicks back in the chicken coop. We have a couple other games from Peaceable Kingdom (a favorite is Hoot Hoot Owl!) so I am excited to add this to the collection.
3. Cootie Game - Do you guys remember this from when we were young?! You probably played cootie growing up. In this game you spin a spinner to complete creating a bug! I think it will bring a lot of laughs and be easy for my youngest to learn. My mom is getting this for my son for Christmas this year.
4. Lightning McQueen blanket - We are in a huge Disney Cars phase over here. As we transition to a big boy bed, I thought it would be fun to get a Lightning McQueen blanket for use at bedtime. My mom is getting this for him this year as well.
5. Disney Cars Hot-wheels - Going along with item number 4, we're getting him a set of Hot-Wheels type cars that look like all the characters from Cars. There are a lot of sets out there, but this one even includes a Mater! (As essential if you ask me.) I know he will love it. (Technically these are not hot-wheels brand but I feel like that is easiest way to explain them.)
6. Pizza Kit - We had previously gifted our kids a play kitchen and they love it. But we don't have any pretend pizza pieces. My youngest will take other toys and put them in a box and pretend they are pizza pieces to give out. So I think he would love to have a pretend pizza play set to add to his kitchen!
7. Lego Duplos - The last gift from my mom this year is a Lego Duplo gift set! These are great legos for little hands to use before you advance to the more traditional legos.
8. Double Sided Swing - A larger gift from my in-laws that they are gifting to both my kids. We recently moved and our new house has a swing set in the backyard. There is an empty spot on it and so we requested this swing that can seat two kids. They can each sit on a side and swing it back and forth. I love that they can play together with it! We have some friends who have it and my boys always love to use it at their house. I think it will be a nice addition to our backyard play set!
9. Sticker Book - My son was gifted a similar book to this last year for his birthday and he LOVED it. It is time to replace it.
10. Search and Find Book - My son is starting to really love iSpy books. (He got a board book version of this in years past that he loves.) He will love that this one is vehicle themed.
11. John Deere Floor Puzzle - My son really loves puzzles and things that go! This John Deere floor puzzle of a tractor is something I think he would really love. It's a little advanced for a young 3 year old - but since he is younger brother we already have quite a few puzzles that are great for his age. So this is something for him to grow into it! I imagine he'll be able to do it by age 3.5.
12. New Books - I always make sure to get each of my boys a new book for Christmas. The three I am between right now are Press Here, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, and Waiting is Not Easy. Since I need ideas to share with family/siblings/etc. I will probably spread them out amongst people. Check out this blog post for more book recommendations for a three year old!
13. Disney Cars Coloring Book Bundle - Back to our Disney Cars obsession. Every year I gift my kids a new coloring book so you know I had to get him a Cars one this year! I love that there are multiple books included in this bundle - including a Grab and Go Pack that I can easily throw in my bag!
14. Maamgic Swim Trunks (Banana Print) - As a younger sibling, little brother often has hand-me-downs. But, it is fun to get him a couple pieces that are just for him! We spend a lot of time in the pool (indoor in the winter!), the lake, etc. I love these banana print swim trunks. This is my favorite brand for kids swim trunks.
15. Melissa and Doug Sunny Patch Seaside Sidekicks Sand Cupcake Play Set - We are going to Florida next year and my husbands family also has a lake property with a sandy "beach". These cupcake molds would be a fun addition to our beach toys and I love that they are small so we could easily pack them!
I hope this gives you some ideas for what to buy a three year old for Christmas! What is your favorite gift to give a three year old? Share it in the comments!
