It has been awhile since I have done a wedding related post! To see all of my wedding posts click here.
It is hard to believe, but our wedding is less than three months away! One of our recent tasks we checked off of our to do list was completing our wedding registry. I heavily browsed Pinterest for tips on registry before we completed ours. Since I found all of those articles so helpful, I thought I would share my tips!
1. Discuss what you want on your registry before you go shopping
The first place you talk about the vision for your home should not be while you are standing inside Pottery Barn. While picking out towels is not the time to figure out that you want a modern look and your fiance wants a rustic look. More than once when we were shopping the sales associate told horror stories about people fighting in the store! Don't be one of these stories :)
2. Vary your price points
This one is kind of common, but it is so true. There will be people attending your wedding who only want to spend $20 on a gift and people who want to spend $200. Even if you don't think there will be someone who will pay for it, put it on your registry. You may get gift cards and most stores offer a discount of 10-20% off anything left on your registry that does not get purchased.
3. Consider signing up before going in store
Filling out the forms to sign up to register was by far the most stressful part for us of registering. It took 45 minutes for the people at Pottery Barn to get all of our information filled out and entered in the system. (I did call and complain and the manager said it should not have taken that long, but still.) Sign up online and all you have to do when you get there is get the scanner. I have heard from friends that some stores require a sales associate go around with you while you register, so if you want to avoid that the trick is to already have an account set up and they will think you are just revisiting, not starting from scratch ;).
4. Celebrate afterwards
Registering is really fun, but after two hours of choosing towels, plates, linens, pots, etc. you will be more than ready to go home. (At least Tyler and I were!) We rewarded ourselves with a fun dinner when we completed the registry at each store. We normally only go out to eat once a week so it was a treat for us to get an extra date night!
We still have a couple months to go, so if there is anything else we should consider OR if there is anything you think we must have on our registry, please let me know in the comments down below!
Also, if you follow me on Twitter, then you already saw this announcement. However, if you do not, my most recent YouTube video has been uploaded! I am super proud of how it all came together so I would love if you would check it out and/or subscribe!

ReplyDeletegood tips! nothing quite so terrible as buying for someone and then only having the option of super expensive things - seems like a no-brainer but some don't ever get that memo ha.

Great tips! My fiance' and I have registered at Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Dillard's...it took so long at every store! But I love being able to access, add to, and take away from the registries online-that's the most helpful thing for us!
