There is no better day than throwback Thursday to do a recap of our trip to Mexico last week! Tyler and I went to Riviera Maya with my sorority mom, Danielle, and her boyfriend Chuck. We stayed at The Ocean Coral and Turquesa. I would definitely recommend our resort ! We had never been to an all-inclusive before and were very pleased with the atmosphere, food, drinks, etc. The resort was gorgeous and the staff was great.
While we were there we mainly just hung out on the beach and played sand volleyball all day. What was crazy was that nobody on my team spoke the same language! It was cool how everyone played together. We also had an intense bags (or corn hole) tournament throughout the week. We ended tied 2-2... guess we better go back to finish our game!
On Tuesday, we went snorkeling! I have never been snorkeling before so I was honestly kind of scared! We got picked up by a boat at our resort and they took us to the middle of the ocean. We got to explore the ocean for over an hour before being taken back to the resort. It was beautiful! I got over my fear as soon as I got in the water. We saw a lot of different fish and coral reef.
Our resort was all inclusive, so we got to eat and drink whatever we wanted all week long. One of the bartenders made us all shots on our first day there called" Shit on the Green Grass." The shot is made with midori and (I think) kahlua. This pretty much became our staple for the week!
Another fun thing our resort had was a hibachi restaurant where they cook the food right in front of you. The food was delicious and our waiter, Miguel, put on a great show. It was his birthday so we sang happy birthday (and made him take a tequila shot)!
We had so much fun on our trip just relaxing and enjoying the warm weather. It was really hard to leave it on Friday! We wore shorts and flip flops on the plane and definitely received some weird looks when we landed in Chicago for our layover.
However, the most exciting part of the whole trip was when Chuck proposed to Danielle!! He proposed on Sunday when we got to the resort. Tyler knew about it in advance but didn't tell me. I'm glad he didn't so I could freak out when Danielle went, "Hey, look what Chuck got me! Chuck was the only who's bags were searched at the airport. He was really nervous about it, and after he proposed I understood why haha! Congrats again, you two! I love you guys :).
Mexico was a blast and I cannot wait until our next vacation. Where to next?!
