I work in a jeans casual environment. I believe I have talked about this before, but essentially it means to dress business casual but we can swap out dress pants for denim. They aren't that strict about it, so people can get away with dressing very casual. Think things like sports team polos, plain v-neck t-shirts, etc. Although there are days when I am all for reaching for something super casual (#casualfriday), I generally want to look much more put together! Somehow getting dressed helps wake me up so I like to put a little bit more thought into getting dressed than just throwing on a t-shirt.
The above outfit is something I would reach for when I wanted to look nicer for work. I don't think you can really go wrong with a blazer and a pair of nice skinny jeans. I have featured this blazer before in this post, but there I paired it with a pencil skirt for a bit of a fancier look. As I mentioned in that post, blazers are a wardrobe must have for anyone in the corporate world! I paired it with these Articles of Society jeans I recently bought. These jeans are less than $50 and are so comfy! I definitely want another pair.
Underneath my blazer, I wore a silk tank from Olive and Oak. (I recently talked about my love for Olive and Oak in this post.) The colors paired perfectly together! In the print of the top, there is a peachy/pink color so I reached for these loafers. My exact loafers are from Old Navy, but they have unfortunately sold out. They have a lot of great options in other colors if you want a cheap pair! I also recently found these which look like a pretty close match to mine. This look is great option for work if you also have a more relaxed dress code. The only time I will really dress any fancier, or reach for slacks, is when I am meeting with a client. 9 times out of 10 you will find me in something similar to this during the work week.
I would love to hear what your dress code for work is like! The only friends I can think of who can't wear jeans to work are teachers or those in a financial field (like accountants or financial advisers).
Hope you all have a great weekend! We have a tacky Christmas party tonight and are cheering on our alma mater in the Division 2 National Championship on Saturday! Go Bearcats!! Before you go, make sure you enter to win the Tory Burch gift card!

I also work in a casual office (I'm the Director of an non-profit advocacy group and bargaining unit for graduate students at a local university) and I love it! And you're so right that you can't go wrong with skinny jeans and a good blazer in a casual work environment.

I basically have no dress code which is great but sometimes gives me too many options! I love a jeans and blazer outfit though and that's my backup always.

Luckily I get to just wear scrubs to work so I never have to pick out an outfit, but on the days I'm off and home, I do agree that getting dressed really helps me wake up and get my day started!

This outfit is gorgeous! I really want that blazer.
ReplyDeleteI am loving this outfit, and this is sort of how I dress on a day to day basis. My work is super casual (think guys with sandals and flip flops during the summer) and the winter is sweaters, light jackets and jeans! I'm so glad we can wear jeans because it's so much more comfy than anything else and I'm a big fan of jeans. They just hold everything together so well! xx, adaatude.com
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit. This is how I dress to work on Friday's. I wait for Friday all week just to wear jeans:)

A blazer is a great way to dress up denim for the office! :)
ReplyDeleteTechnically, according to the guidelines, we should only wear denim on casual Friday, bu plenty of people walk around in jeans during the week - we have a very relaxed environment! It's great as it gives you so many more options for what to wear to work!

ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! I wished the blazer wasnt cuffed though. I would want it to go down to my wrists with the option of bringing it back up.

This is very similar to how we dress for casual Friday. Sometimes we wear our company t-shirt.

You can never go wrong with nice jeans, a pretty top and a blazer. My current job is pretty laid back so this outfit would be perfect for it. I actually wear a similar outfit to this, often. Your blouse and flats are so chic.
ReplyDeleteP.S. What do you do?
