||Kendra Scott Alex Drop Earrings| Loren Hope Sara Cuff | Boohoo Tarrah Leather Look Front Leggings c/o | similar faux fur vest | Loft printed blouse (40% off!)||
I recently shared a picture of this outfit on my Instagram after I wore it out for a date night in Colorado. (A recap of our trip will be coming next week!) Tyler and I went shopping at the Silverthorne Outlets and then got dinner at the Dillon Dam Brewery. Since it was date night, I wanted to look a little nicer. I opted for a blouse with my favorite leather leggings. Since it was Colorado, I needed more layers and added on a faux fur vest. I thought about reaching for my favorite black earrings, but decided to add a pop of color with these pink Kendra Scott earrings! I think all black outfits are so chic, but I know they can be intimidating to other people. I have two tips for styling a monochrome outfit for you below!
1. Add a pattern: Although this look would be perfectly fine with a plain colored top, the pattern breaks it up and adds interest to the look. Since this top is a black and white pattern, I am able to still style a monochrome outfit. However, the pattern makes the top the statement piece in the outfit. While I don't think you necessarily need a clothing statement piece, I think it's great to reach for one if you are hesitant about a monochrome black outfit! Another option would be some statement jewelry.
2. Play with texture: In this look I have both faux fur and faux leather. The different textures and fabrics help differentiate the pieces. I feel like if they were both the same material, the outfit could have more of a suit feel! (Nothing wrong with that, just not the vibe I was going for here.) If you want to wear black denim, reach for a layer that has more visual interest up top.

What a lovely outfit! Good to know you wore extra layers. I'm always cold in the winter and we don't even have snow here lol. But I always make sure to wear thermals underneath my tops and even jeans during this time of year.
